Effects of phased rehabilitation training centered on modulating neural signaling pathways on pain and joint range of motion in total knee arthroplasty patients

Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of phased rehabilitation training centered on modulating neural signaling pathways on pain and joint range of motion in total knee arthroplasty patients. Methods Sixty-eight patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty admitted between June 2021 and June 2025 were randomly assigned to an observation group (n=34) and a control group (n=34). The control group received conventional rehabilitation therapy, while the observation group underwent phased rehabilitation training centered on regulating neural signaling pathways. Pain visual analog scale (VAS) score and joint range of motion Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, both groups demonstrated significantly improved knee joint function scores, reduced VAS scores, along with increased motor function and joint pain scores. The observation group exhibited superior improvements across all metrics compared to the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Compared to conventional rehabilitation, phased rehabilitation training centered on regulating neural signaling pathways may more effectively alleviate postoperative pain, enhance joint range of motion and function, and promote recovery in total knee arthroplasty patients.
