Abstract: N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) is a kind of peptide which synthesized and secreted by ventricular muscle. When the stress of ventricular wall changes,NT-proBNP has an increasing secretion.NT-proBNP is recognized as a biomarker which can be used in the diagnosis of heart failure and prognosis prediction.Current studies have shown that NT-proBNP has clinical application value in the diagnosis and prognosis of coronary artery disease (CAD).The clinical value of NT-proBNP in cardiac surgery, especially in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and cardiac valvular surgery gradually attracts popular’s attention. This article reviews the clinical application and research progress of NT-proBNP in cardiac surgery field.
