Objective To observe the agitation in patients with Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery in the recovery period of general anesthesia in the patients who received propaganda and education before surgery.Methods Sixty ASA Ⅰ~Ⅱ grade patients who were scheduled for Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery,were randomly divided into two groups(group C and group P) with 30 cases each.Patients in group C were given the routine pre-anesthetic visit the day before surgery.while the patients in group P were given the propaganda and education besides the routine pre-anesthetic visit.The knowledge of extubation and general anesthesia were introduced to enhance the patients’ confidence and before anesthesia,the patients were informed again about the discomfortable feelings during the recovery period of general anesthesia.The recovery time of patients,the endotracheal extubation time of patients,RSS agitation scale at endotracheal extubation and VAS scale were assessed.Results There were no significant differences in two groups about recovery time and pain intensity.The endotracheal extubation time of group P was significantly shorter than that of group C(P<0.05).The incidence of agitation of group P were significantly lower than that of group C(P<0.05).Conclusion The occurrence of agitation of patients with Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery in the recovery period of general anesthesia can obviously decrease if the patients received propaganda and education before surgery,which can also improve the quality and safety of resuscitation.
