Factors influencing complete response rate of liver cancer after percutaneous radiofrequency ablation

Abstract

Objective To explore the factors influencing the complete response (CR) rate of liver cancer after percutaneous radiofrequency ablation (PRFA). Methods A total of 60 patients with liver cancer treated with ultrasound-guided PRFA were recruited from our hospital. According to the postoperative results of contrast-enhanced ultrasound, the patients were divided into CR group and in-complete response (ICR) group. The ablation number of lesions and CR rate under the influence of different factors were recorded and the differences of each factor between the two groups were compared. Further multiple logistic regression was used to analyze the independent influencing factors of tumor CR rate after PRFA. Results A total of 94 lesions were completely ablated after PRFA treatment, and the total CR rate was 91.26%. Tumor type, special anatomical position, maximum tumor diameter, ablative margin, ablation energy, and central temperature were significantly correlated with the CR rate of tumor (P<0.05). Further multiple logistic regression results showed that tumor type (P=0.024), special anatomical position (P=0.031), maximum tumor diameter (P=0.001), ablative margin (P<0.001), ablation energy (P=0.003) and central temperature of tumor (P=0.009) were independent influencing factors of tumor CR rate after PRFA. Conclusion Tumor type, special anatomic location, maximum tumor diameter,ablative margin, ablation energy, and central temperature of tumor have important effects on CR rate of liver cancer after PRFA.
