Abstract

Parkinson’s disease(PD) is a neurodegenerative disease and its main manifestation is movement disorders. The treatment of PD focuses on the improvement of motor symptoms. With the invention of stereotactic techniques, surgical technique for PD emerged and developed, especially the technique of derogation under stereotactic orientation and the technique of deep brain stimulation.Stereotactic intervention could partially improve patient’s symptoms, but couldn’t defered the progression of PD.Gene therapy with neurotrophic factors or neurotransmitter may be a potential treatment. This article reviews the progress of deep brain stimulation surgery and gene therapy of Parkinson’s disease.
