Abstract: [Abstract] Objective To analyze chemokine receptor 4 (chemokine receptor4, CXCR4) expression in colon cancer its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis. Methods The expressions of CXCR4 protein were probed by immunohistochemical staining in 98 specimens of colon cancer and 23 specimens of paracancerous from second Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University and its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis was then analyzed. Results The positive rate of CXCR4 expression in the colon cancer group (72.0%, 36/50) was significantly higher than in paracancerous normal tissue group (10%, 1/10) (P <0.05). The CXCR4 expression in colon cancer patients with different gender, age, tumor location, tumor size, histological was no significant difference (P> 0.05). However, the significant upregulation of CXCR4 expression in invasion of colon serosa group, lymph node metastasis group, and high TNM stage groups with respect to others were found(P <0.05). Conclusions The protein expression of CXCR4 was up-regulated in the colon cancer and is related to colon cancer malignancy and prognosis, which indicate CXCR4 exert its function on the development of the colon cancer.
