Abstract: NADPH oxidase-1 (NOX-1) is a member of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase (NADPH oxidase,NOX) family.NOX is the key enzyme that regulates oxidation-reduction reaction in vivo and the earliest known system for producing reactive oxygen species (ROS).On the one hand,a small amount of ROS can enhance immune defense and participate in the regulation of cell differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and intercellular signaling pathways. On the other hand, excessive ROS can cause oxidative stress, resulting in cell physiological dysfunction, and play an important role in accelerating the pathogenesis of inflammation, fibrosis, and tumor formation. As one of the main sources of ROS,NOX-1 plays an important role in tumor formation. This paper reviewed NOX-1 and its roles and molecular mechanisms in tumors,in order to explore the effective targets for diagnosis and prognosis of malignant tumors such as gallbladder cancer.
