Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of psychological nursing intervention among initial blood donors. Methods A total of 212 initial blood donors between February 2017 and January 2019 were selected as study subjects and divided into a control group and an experimental group by random number table, with 106 cases in each group. Their incidence of blood donation responses and psychological state were compared. Results The incidence rate of blood donation responses in the experimental group （3.77%） was lower than that in the control group （12.26%） （P<0.05）, and the satisfaction rate in the experimental group （97.17%） was higher than that in the control group （88.68%） （P<0.05）. There was no significant difference in the scores of anxiety before blood donation between the two groups （P>0.05）, but the scores of the two groups after blood donation were significantly lower than those before, and the score of the experimental group after blood collection was significantly lower than that of the control group （P<0.05）. Conclusion For initial blood donors, tension and anxiety are common adverse responses caused by their own factors and external factors. Psychological nursing intervention can alleviate above conditions, prevent adverse blood donation responses, and improve blood donors’ mental state.
