Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of ureteroscopy combined with holmium laser lithotripsy on upper ureteral calculi.Methods Ninety-two patients with upper ureteral calculi treated in our hospital were divided into contrel group and study group.Patients with even-numbered ureteral calculi were treated as study group (n=46) and those with odd number as reference group (n=46).The study group was treated with ureteroscopy combined with holmium laser lithotripsy,and the control group with laparoscopic ureterotomy.Complications,analgesics usage,operation and hospital stay were observed and compared between the two groups.Results After operation,compared with the control group,the study group had significantly shorter hospital stay and operation time,as well as significantly lower rates of complications and analgesics usage (P<0.05).Conclusion In the treatment of upper ureteral calculi,ureteroscopy combined with holmium laser lithotripsy is superior to laparoscopic ureterotomy in the treatment of upper ureteral calculi for its short operation time,minimal invasion,and high clinical value.
