Analysis on influence of current doctor-patient relationship on career choices of medical students and young doctors

Abstract: Objective To explore the influence of current doctor-patient relationship on the profession choices of medical students and young doctors,analyze the reasons why they are unwilling to become doctors,and give suggestions to solve the problem.Methods Medical students,young doctors,and patients were asked to complete a questionnaire survey(n=1500).Data on recognition of doctor-patient relationship,medical students’ career concerns,career development,and mental health,were collected.Results About 29.24% of medical students and 50.30% of young doctors believed that the doctor-patient relationship was “very intense”; 66.26% of medical students and 70.99% of young doctors considered doctor a high-risk job.Medical violence brought more psychological injury to doctors.Conclusion The intense doctor-patient relationship has seriously affected the mental health of medical students and young doctors,and their career choices.The main reason for not wanting to be a doctor is the negative doctor-patient relationship.To reduce this adverse impact,we need to pay attention to the cultivation of humanistic quality,legal consciousness,and communication skills for medical students and young doctors.
