Abstract: Objective To comparatively analyze transabdominal preperitioneal hernia （TAPP） repair and open mesh plug and flat plate tension-free hernia repair （Rutkow） on inguinal hernia. Methods A total of 100 patients with inguinal hernia were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group with 50 patients in each group. The control group received Rutkow surgery and the observation group received endoscopic TAPP surgery to compare the efficacy of the two groups. Results Complications including incision infection, recurrence, seroma, urinary retention, and testicular pain in the observation group were less than those in the control group （6% vs. 26%, P<0.05）. Conclusion TAPP repair for inguinal hernia produces less surgical complications, lower operational risks, and faster recovery, thus it is worthy of application.
