Abstract: Objective The purpose of this study is to evaluate the value of spiral CT imaging in normal stomach. Methods A study of 60 adults(with no gastric disease) underwent spiral scans. All adults were scanned with spiral CT and 48 adults underwent contrast within one breathhold each. Results According to the filling degree of stomach, the shape of the wall of stomach was classified into three types:insufficient distention(8),proper distention(35)and full distention(17).In stomachs of all adults, the subareas could be scanned, gastric thickness of different areas could be measured.Spiral CT can get well in detecting gastric structure. Conclusion Spiral CT could not only scan subarea from more planes and angles, but also be used in measuring gastric thickness of different districts. It can well display the anatomic relationship between the stomach and its adjacent organs.
