Abstract: Objective To summarize the experience of laparoscopic common bile duct exploration (LCDE).Methods The clinical data of 2 161 patients undergoing LCDE were analyzed retrospectively from March 1992 to March 2013 in the Second People,s Hospital of Chengdu.Results The procedure was successful in 1 241(93.8%) in 1 320 cases with primary suture of duct incision and 772(91.7%) in 841 cases with T tube drainage.Twenty-four cases were shifted to open common bile duct exploration .Bile leakage occurred in 67 cases.Residual stones were not removed by endoscopy in 12 cases.Five cases died postoperatively.Forty-nine cases were found with other complications.Conclusion If patients are in indication,LCDE is a feasible,safe and effective method for skilled endoscopists.
