Abstract: Ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is a peripheral nerve (T6-L1) block for anterior abdominal wall. The method is injecting local anesthetics into the gap of fascia transversalis and deep muscle under ultrasound guidance. There are three major approaches used in clinical practice currently, including abdominal lateral approach, subcostal approach, and posterior approach.According to the level of anesthesia,we can choose corresponding approaches.TAP block can be used for anesthesia in abdominal surgery and postoperative analgesia. As one multimodal analgesia scheme,TAP block can improve analgesia effect.Ultrasound guidance can improve the success rate of TAP block and reduce the incidence rate of complications. The combined application of dexmedetomidine can enhance analgesic quality.Continuous TAP block can achieve sustained and stable analgesic effect.
