Abstract: Objective To explore the application of graphic method based on visual management theory in school-age children with tonsillectomy. Methods A total of 160 school-age children admitted to pediatric otolaryngology department for tonsillectomy from June 2019 to March 2020 were selected and divided by random number table method into a traditional nursing and education group (traditional group, n=80) and a nursing and education group using graphic method (graphic group, n=80). On the basis of routine nursing, the traditional group were intervened by traditional nursing and education, and the graphic group by the nursing and education using graphic method based on visual management theory. The two groups were compared in education time, operation time, hospital stay, surgical complications, and perioperative nursing care satisfaction. Results After the intervention of nursing and education using graphic method based on visual management theory, the education time, operation time, and hospitalization time of the children in the graphic group were significantly shorter than those in the traditional group (P < 0.05), the incidence rate of postoperative complications was significantly lower (P<0.05), and the perioperative nursing care satisfaction was significantly higher (P<0.05). Conclusion The intervention of nursing and education using graphic method based on visual management theory can significantly shorten education time, operation time, and hospital stay of the children with tonsillectomy, effectively control the occurrence of postoperative complications, and improve the perioperative nursing care satisfaction of the children and their families, thereby establish a good nurse-patient relationship, enhance the compliance of the children, and accelerate post-operation rehabilitation. Such an intervention is important for children to obtain high-quality prognosis outcomes and is worthy of clinical popularization and application.
