Abstract

Abstract: Objective To report the experience of applying purse-string suture in securing the base of appendix in laparoscopic appendectomy.Methods A total of 128 cases who underwent laparoscopic appendectomy assisted by purse-string suture for appendix stump from May 2013 to May 2016 were retrospectively analyzed.Results All 128 surgeries succeeded and no patients got secondary injury or complication.Conclusion Purse-string suture in securing the base of appendix in laparoscopic appendectomy is safe,reliable,and economical,and thus deserves wide application in clinic.
