Research progress on nursing care of skin injury during radiotherapy for head and neck malignant tumors

Abstract: Head and neck malignancies are common tumors worldwide. Radiation oncology is a local treatment method that uses radiation to treat tumors. It is a mature technology, whereas it can cause varying degrees of skin damage which would affect the mental and physical health of patients. This article reviewed the research progress on the nursing care of skin injury of patients with head and neck malignant tumors during radiotherapy, focusing on three aspects: skin injury prevalence, classification of radiation-induced skin injury, and related intervention measures during radiotherapy for head and neck malignant tumors, aiming to provide reference for clinical nurses to nurse patients with skin injury caused by radiotherapy for head and neck malignant tumors.
